What to give someone who has everything
The problem is not the budget. Anything you can name, they either own already or will buy for themselves first. So the answer is not a rarer object but one that cannot be bought ready-made: a chocolate box with their own photograph on the lid and your words beside it.
You build it on the site — pick a design, upload a photograph, type your words, choose the bar that goes inside — and the box on screen shows what you will get.
The chocolate is not the unusual part
The bar inside is an ordinary bar, the same one that is in the shop. The lid is the unusual part. Whoever opens it sees their own face first, reads the line second, and passes the box round the table third. The chocolate is gone the same evening; the lid ends up on a shelf.
Which leaves one rule: spend longer on the words than on the photo. “Happy birthday” can be written to anybody, which is why it says nothing. What works is a line only the two of you understand — a name only the family uses, an old joke, a date.
Designs nobody expects
Location prints the streets around one place: the yard they grew up in, a first flat, the café you have been sitting in for years, with the name and the coordinates underneath.
Spotify and Dark Spotify turn the lid into a song card — the photo, the title, the player bar and a code that scans. Netflix and Google are for a joke, with their name on a poster or typed into a search box.
Frame & Player and the astrology designs are the quiet ones, for when the present has to look serious — the astrology designs carry a Star map block that prints the sky as it stood over a place at an hour you choose. The whole range is in the design catalogue.
What you can add
- Live photo — a QR code on the box: they scan it, hold the phone over the picture, and your video plays on top, with no app to install.
- Letter — your photo and your words in Polaroid format, inside the box.
- Gift wrap — patterned paper and a ribbon.
Boxes are made by hand, and the order page shows the earliest date you can choose before you pay for anything.
